Mark Your Calendar for 2021

Well, it’s fair to say that 2020 didn’t exactly go as planned for everyone. The world was turned upside down in every conceivable aspect. That said, in the midst of a global pandemic, so many Alabamians got outside to log thousands of #100ALMILES! Going outdoors and exercise routines became a release for so many people, providing a bright light during a dark time.

So, what’s ahead now that we are in 2021? A lot! For starters, we already have many participants logging their miles on our website. If you haven’t signed up yet or started logging your miles, then head over to the site and get going! You can find the login section in the top right corner on the homepage.

The official 100 Alabama Miles Challenge kickoff for 2021 will be April 24! This coincides with National Celebrate Trails Day. The event is an annual spring celebration of our nation’s exceptional trails and trail systems. If you RSVP at the link above you could win some great prizes from Rails-to-Trails Conservancy!

“Partnering with National Celebrate Trails Day is a natural fit for 100 Alabama Miles Challenge, because both programs seek to heighten public awareness and use of our wonderful trail resources. Whether it’s in our state parks, national forests, local parks and greenways, or our beautiful blueways, Alabama has fantastic trails and trail systems that people can discover,” said Brian Rushing, the program’s coordinator and Director of Economic Development Initiatives at University of Alabama Center for Economic Development. “Anyone looking for a trail can find one to suit their needs and interests at 100alabamamiles.org,” he added.

2021 will also see 100 Alabama Miles Challenge welcoming some new, inspiring ambassadors! These active enthusiasts will encourage and motivate participants throughout the state. Be on the lookout for introductions to each ambassador on this blog!

With races starting up again and the temperatures getting warmer, there’s lots of optimism and opportunity for achieving your miles. Keep going and make sure you tag us on social media with #100ALMILES!
